KSAT Weather: More showers and storms expected by midday, into the afternoon

Storms could put down some heavy rainfall, Justin Horne says

SAN ANTONIOUPDATE: KSAT 12 meteorologist Justin Horne says an area of showers and storms is slowly pushing north into the Hill Country this morning.

A few showers remain on San Antonio's North Side. Once they pass by, expect a break in the action before more showers and storms develop by midday and into the afternoon, Horne said.

As it has been, any of these storms could put down some heavy, and in some cases, flooding rainfall. Horne says a weak frontal boundary should only enhance rain chances as we go into the weekend.

However, by late on Sunday, rain chances do start to decrease, with quieter weather forecast for next week.

KSAT 12 meteorologist Mike Osterhage says a flood advisory has been issued for parts of southeastern Medina County, northeastern Frio County, northwestern Atascosa County and western Bexar County until 7:30 a.m. CDT.

The National Weather Service said moderate rainfall continues to fall across portions of San Antonio westward to Castroville and southward to Somerset and Devine. Minor flooding remains possible and motorists are urged to use caution.

Showers are also beginning to develop along Highway 123 between Seguin and San Marcos as well as near Wimberley, the National Weather Service said. Expect brief moderate rainfall with amounts up to 1/2” in the stronger showers.

Osterhage said more showers and storms will develop today and through the weekend. Rain chances will then taper off next week, Osterhage said.
