ROCKPORT, Texas - A little more than six weeks after Hurricane Harvey slammed the Texas Coastal Bend, the Aransas County Independent School District has reopened its campuses.
The district began classes on Aug. 21, just four days before Harvey made landfall.
The storm caused extensive damage across the area, with the high school sustaining the most damage.
In the days after the storm, students were able to begin school in other districts while repairs were being made the ACISD’s five campuses, and the superintendent announced that schools in the Rockport and Fulton would be closed indefinitely.
