Driver killed in fiery rollover crash near Highway 281, SAPD says

Crash happened just before 12:30 a.m.

SAN ANTONIO – One person is dead following a rollover crash on the city’s North Side early Tuesday morning, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened just before 12:30 a.m. in the 10500 block of San Pedro Avenue, not far from Highway 281 and just west of the San Antonio International Airport.

According to police, the driver of a Jeep lost control and veered off the main southbound lanes on San Pedro. The vehicle rolled into a grassy median, struck an embankment and caught fire.

Police said firefighters discovered a person in the Jeep after putting out the flames. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The person killed has not yet been identified.

It is still unclear why the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
