Participants climbed sets of the stairs at the stadium for an hour and a half and stop to commemorate when the towers collapsed, when the Pentagon was struck, and when Flight 93 crashed.

The stair climb was closed to the public due to COVID-19, and participants started in waves.

Also on Friday, a special wreath-laying ceremony to honor LTC Karen Wagner will be held at Fort Sam National Cemetery. Wagner, who graduated from Judson High School in 1979, died at the Pentagon during the attack.
