Peek was initially arrested by the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office in October 2021 for charges related to aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office.

At the time of his arrest, a large amount of child pornography was found on his cell phone and SIM card, the release states. WCSO then contacted the FBI for assistance.

A federal search warrant was executed on Peek’s devices in January 2022.

Within one folder, federal authorities found 16,000 images, and of those, 793 were determined to be child sexual abuse material, the release states.

“Peek possessed a shocking number of images of children enduring sexual abuse,” U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza said in the release. “By receiving and viewing the images he compounded the harm inflicted on those children by the predators who perpetrated and recorded the dreadful acts against them.

He was convicted on all four counts in a jury trial in August 2022. The FBI and Wilson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
