SAWS crews work to repair water leak at North Side intersection

SAN ANTONIO – Crews with San Antonio Water System are working to repair a pipe leak on the North Side.

The water leak is located at the Bitters Road and West Avenue intersection.

Crews are fixing a 30-inch concrete steel pipe installed in 1986, SAWS told KSAT.

SAWS noted that the repair has been complicated since the water pipe is 20 feet deep with multiple utility capabilities, including a high-pressure gas main.

Crews will replace around 19 feet of the water pipe, with completion expected on Tuesday.

SAWS said that only one lane of eastbound traffic on Bitters Road is open on Monday afternoon because of the leak.
