Houston police chase of stolen vehicle ends in deadly crash

HOUSTON – A chase by Houston police of a stolen vehicle ended in a crash that killed the driver, authorities said.

The chase began just after 12 a.m. on Tuesday after officers discovered that a vehicle in front of them was stolen and tried to pull it over, said Houston Assistant Police Chief James Jones.

As the vehicle tried to speed away from police, the driver hit a curb and lost control, ending up in a ditch, Jones said.

The driver was killed. Two people in the vehicle were injured and taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The names of the driver and the two passengers were not immediately released by authorities. Police continued their investigation in the case on Tuesday.
