A clogged toilet brought a murder trial to an unexpected halt at the Bexar County Justice Center after water flooded a courtroom last week.

The Bexar County Justice Center is a place emotional and distressing cases are heard every day, leaving jurors grappling with the trauma of graphic testimony and evidence. To help alleviate some of the emotional toll, therapy dogs are stepping in to provide comfort.

Detective Steven Rivas was involved in the incidents of inappropriate conduct in a six-day period last fall, the records show.
