U.S. sales of plant-based meat jumped 45% in the 52 weeks ending Jan. 16; traditional meat sales rose 19% in the same period, according to NielsenIQ, a data firm.

Nestle has said it is expanding a plant-based products factory in the northeastern city of Tianjin. However, since most plant-based meat products often cost more, breaking into the Chinese market could be challenging.
