SOFTBALL: Canyon tops Colleyville Heritage 2-0, will play for UIL Class 5A State title

The undefeated New Braunfels Canyon softball team used a huge hit from Markaylee Maldonado and a stellar pitching performance from Haley Carmona to defeat Colleyville Heritage in the UIL Class 5A State semifinals on Friday afternoon at Red & Charline McCombs Field in Austin. The Cougarettes will face Montgomery Lake Creek in the State Championship Game Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
