Former San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg declares victory over Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai in Democratic primary

After early voting results were released Tuesday night, Ron Nirenberg (62%) leads incumbent Peter Sakai (38%) by 24 percentage points in the Democratic primary race for Bexar County judge. While a KSAT crew was at Sakai’s watch party at La Fonda Alamo Heights, a hush fell over the crowd of about 100 when the early election results came on screen. Election Day votes are yet to be counted and will determine the outcome of the race in the coming hours.
