The city's keeping track of dangerous dogs — here's what you need to know

Dangerous dog cases in San Antonio have nearly tripled in just one year — and the city says more people are finally speaking up. ACS Director Jon Gary told the City Council that increased staffing and funding means more officers are responding to calls and investigating attacks, which is driving those numbers up. In 2024, just over 100 dogs were labeled dangerous and 69 were labeled aggressive. By 2025, those numbers jumped to 283 dangerous and 103 aggressive — and the city has the map to prove it. San Antonio's Dangerous Dog Registry shows exactly where incidents have been reported near you. Geary says the goal is zero — but that starts with dog owners taking responsibility. #SanAntonio #DangerousDogs #DogAttack #AnimalSafety #KnowYourNeighborhood
