All That Rain Has a Silver Lining — Rockets Are Back on the Shelves
Thanks to the rainiest stretch San Antonio has seen these past few months, fireworks retailers can now legally sell items that have been off-limits for years — including rockets. KSAT meteorologists say the region has received about 22 inches of rain so far this year, nearly 7 inches more than recent years, and it's making a big difference at the fireworks stand this Fourth of July. KSAT's Alexa Scott visited Alamo Fireworks, where owner Celina Montoya says the Keech-Byram Drought Index — a state-tracked measure that determines what fireworks are legal to sell — is finally low enough to put rockets back on the shelves. Just remember: fireworks are NOT allowed within San Antonio city limits, so buy from a licensed retailer and use them safely.
