Driver killed in rollover crash on I-37 identified by medical examiner

The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of IH-37

A driver killed in a rollover crash overnight Saturday has been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner.

Ricardo Garcia, 61, died from blunt force trauma, according to the ME.

On Sunday, another driver involved in the crash, 31-year-old John Reyes, was arrested for failure to stop and render aid causing death.

According to an arrest affidavit, Reyes told police the truck stopped in front of him and he couldn’t stop in time.

He crashed into the truck from behind and then drove home without helping Garcia at the crash scene, according to SAPD.

At last check, he remains in the Bexar County Jail.

A man is dead after he lost control and rolled over in an overnight crash Saturday, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of IH-37 near Steves Avenue.

Police said a southbound pickup truck driver lost control and swerved into a concrete wall, causing it to fall off the highway.

The truck landed in a grass median, leaving the driver pinned inside.

SAPD said the man was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
