SAN ANTONIO – Four people were taken to an area hospital following a 2-vehicle crash at an East Side intersection early Wednesday morning, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Rigsby Avenue and South W.W. White Road, not far from Loop 410.

According to police, a man was traveling westbound on Rigsby Avenue when he crashed his pickup truck into another truck carrying three people heading northbound on South W.W. White Road.

Police said the three people inside the other truck managed to get out of their vehicle with the help of witnesses after they rolled during the collision. The driver of the other pickup truck was rescued by firefighters after getting pinned inside the vehicle.

SAPD said the driver traveling on Rigsby will be assessed for the possibility of DWI at the hospital. All four people from the two trucks were taken by ambulance to the hospital, two of them with serious injuries.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.
