1.4 million shower rugs recalled

Consumer Reports re-tests Fitbits for accuracy

SAN ANTONIO1.4 million shower rugs recalled

After dozens of injuries including broken bones, Tristar Products is recalling 1.4 million Aquarug shower rugs.

The rugs are intended to provide a slip-resistant surface in the shower or tub. However, the four suction cups can fail, posing a fall hazard to the user.

The company has received 60 reports of people falling including 30 reports of injuries.

The Aquarugs were sold from July 2012 through September 2015 at various retailers including Bed Bath & Beyond and Dollar General.

Consumers can contact Tristar online at tristarproductsinc.com for information about a free replacement.

Children's balance bikes recalled

Chillafish has recalled 29,000 balance bikes for small children.

People have been injured by flying bits of plastic when overinflated tires caused the wheel rims to crack.

The recall involves all Chillafish BMXie, Jack and Josie balance bikes.

They were sold at Sam's Clubs as well as Amazon.com, Target.com and ToysRUs.com from November 2013 through November 2015.

Parents should deflate the tires to 32 psi and contact the company for a free repair. For more information, visit chillafish.com.

Consumer Reports retests Fitbits

Consumer Reports has re-tested some Fitbit fitness trackers in light of a recent class action lawsuit alleging that at high heart rates, the monitors on on the Surge and Charge H-R are not accurate.

Consumer Reports did additional testing at higher heart rates.

"We compared the results to our highest-rated heart rate monitor," said Consumer Reports' Patrick Austin. "In all of our tests, both Fitbit models were found to be very accurate."

Consumer Reports continues to recommend both models.
