Floresville ISD to start school at regular time Monday

Town hard-hit by flooding Sunday morning

FLORESVILLE, Texas – Students who attend Floresville Independent School District will begin the first day of school at their normally scheduled time Monday.

The district made the announcement Sunday afternoon, as many in the small town southeast of San Antonio clean up after overnight flooding.

Parts of Wilson County received nearly a foot of rain Saturday night into Sunday morning and deputies responded to dozens of high water rescues.

Sunday morning Floresville City Manager Henrietta Turner toured the area with city crews searching for damage, but came away relieved the town had missed most of the flooding.

Only a handful of homes and businesses in the town sustained flood damage.

The district said in a Facebook post that while buses will run as scheduled, there will be delays due to flooding across the area.
