SAPD offers back-to-school driving safety tips

SAPD is on the lookout for school zone traffic violations

SAN ANTONIO – Many public school students will be returning to school Monday, and the San Antonio Police Department is teaming up with school districts to remind drivers to be careful in school zones.

Officers will be watching drivers closely during this first week of school as part of SAPD’s back-to-school initiative.

Some of the things officers will be on the lookout for in school zones include speeding, texting or using a cell phone while driving, ignoring crossing guards or crosswalks and passing stopped buses.

SAPD encourages drivers to be extra careful around school zones and allow extra travel time for the heavier traffic.
