The application period runs through March 13.

Commissioner of Education Mike Morath on Dec. 1 notified Southside ISD of his decision to lower the district's 2015-2016 accreditation status to accredited-warned. Morath also advised district officials of his decision to appoint a board of managers and conservator because of the lowered accreditation.

A majority of the board of managers must consist of members of the Southside ISD community. The board will replace the current elected board of trustees and be responsible for overseeing the management of the school district. Morath will also appoint an interim superintendent.

TEA will host a pre-selection board of managers training session from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 18 at the Southside ISD administration office at 1460 Martinez Losoya Road.

Community members are strongly encouraged to attend and participate in the session.
