TEA to host training session for Southside ISD board of managers candidates

Training to be held Saturday at district administration office

SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Education Agency will hold a training session Saturday for the Southside Independent School District as part of a pre-selection process for a new board of managers.

Commissioner of Education Mike Morath lowered the district’s accreditation status in late 2016 to “accredited-warned” for the 2015-16 school year.

Morath said he plans to appoint a majority of the school district’s new board of managers from members of the Southside ISD community who are committed to serving the district.

Community members are invited to participate in the session as TEA staff discusses the impact and importance that the appointed board of managers’ decisions will have on student outcomes and the district.

As part of TEA’s board appointment process, the training will give community members an opportunity to speak with board of manager candidates.

The training session will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southside ISD administration office at 1460 Martinez Losoya Road.
