The arrests were made at the school and bring the number of arrests in the scandal to 13.

The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged sexual assaults going back to 2014.

Three other adults charged in the case include Alejandro Ibarra, Dustin Norman and Robert Olivarez Jr.

The Texas Rangers and the Texas Attorney General's Office are reviewing the case at the request of the Wilson County District Attorney's Office in an effort to avoid conflicts of interest.

In another development, a federal lawsuit was filed Monday in connection with the case.

The parents of a student who was a 15-year-old freshman in 2015 are plaintiffs in the case.

The lawsuit names several defendants, including La Vernia Independent School District superintendent Jose Moreno, La Vernia High School principal Kristen Martin and former and current head coaches and athletic directors.
