Fiesta Flambeau Parade announces grand marshals

Tejano singer Patsy Torres, UTSA president to lead celebration

SAN ANTONIO – The Fiesta Flambeau Parade Association announced on Tuesday that this year's grand marshals will be Tejano singer Patsy Torres and UTSA President Dr. Ricardo Romo.

Torres has performed for live audiences, appeared on national television and traveled all over the world, winning several awards for her musical talents.

"It's kind of surreal to be recognized like this locally. (It) is just an honor. It's a thrill. I'm so excited. I just want to yell gritos all the time," Torres said.

The Fiesta Flambeau Parade is the largest illuminated night parade in the nation.

The theme for this year is "Long Live Texas."

Every year the Flambeau features floats, marching bands and other musical groups.

The parade is considered the premier event of the 11 days of Fiesta.

The parade will take place Saturday, April 23. The event steps off at 6:30 p.m. with the vanguard of ROTC and civilian patriotic organizations. The main parade begins at 7:45 p.m.

Fiesta starts April 14 and runs through April 24.
