Funny typo discovered on NIOSA cups

2017 NIOSA cups feature misspelling

SAN ANTONIO – Night in Old San Antonio is a staple event of Fiesta, and this year the cups might become collector’s items.

Why? There’s a typo on the cups that declares NIOSA “A Night in Old Santonio.”

The Rain Rock has been great at keeping bad weather away thus far, but it seems bad spelling couldn’t be warded off.

NIOSA is a festival that raises money for the San Antonio Conservation Society. 

It started in 1938 as an Indian Festival to honor the early days of San Antonio. The first NIOSA garnered $336.11 for the conservation society.

On the average, NIOSA revelers annually consume over 17,000 pounds of beef; 11,000 pounds of chicken; 5,000 pounds of sausage; 3,000 turkey legs; 25,000 buns, rolls and bolillos; 30,000 tortillas; 2,000 pounds of masa; 6,000 tamales; 15,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables and 1,000 pounds of guacamole, according to the website.
