Wrestling stars, divas set for WWE Royal Rumble Sunday at Alamodome

SAN ANTONIO – Several WWE stars and wrestling divas will descend upon San Antonio on Sunday for the 30th annual Royal Rumble.

The Royal Rumble is one of World Wrestling Entertainment’s most popular pay-per-view events and part of WWE’s signature “Big Four” along with Wrestlemania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series.

A crowd of more than 60,000 is expected at the event.

VIA to offer park & ride service

This is the second Royal Rumble to be held in San Antonio at the Alamodome, and the fourth to be held in the state of Texas.

The highlight of event’s card is a 30-man Royal Rumble match whose participants enter at timed intervals. 

Wrestlers eliminate their competitors by tossing them over the top rope with both feet touching the floor.

The winner of the Royal Rumble is the last wrestler standing in the ring. The winner also receives a world championship match at WrestleMania 33.

There will also be seven individual matches before the main event. One of the matches features John Cena and another a six-woman tag team match.
