SAN ANTONIO – For almost 40 years Chris Madrid's has called San Antonio home and their burger is a cheesy classic. Opened in 1977 by Chris Madrid, the place has grown to be a part of the Alamo City.
"I can't tell you how many people come in who say I was one of Chris Madrid's first customers in 1977," director of operations Bryce Waller said.
On the menu are a variety of burgers including the Cheddar Cheezy and the Tostada Burger.
"It's a great mixture and I think what makes us different we are a mixture of Tex-Mex and burgers which fits San Antonio well," Waller said.
Not only has clientele grown throughout the years but also the building itself. Originally built in the 30's as a gas station, Chris Madrid would expand the place to what it is now.
Chris Madrid passed away four years ago, but his legacy is carried on by his family and all his customers.
"We want to say thank you to San Antonio for voting us the best burger," Waller said. "We're proud to be able to serve such a great city."
