Man charged in fatal bar shooting

Daniel Salazar, 44, was arrested Friday without incident

SAN ANTONIO – A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with a shooting outside a bar late Thursday night that left one man dead and another man in critical condition.

The medical examiner identified the victim as Miguel Moreno, 48.

Daniel Salazar, 44, was arrested without incident near Loop 410 and Quintana Road on the city's Southwest Side, police spokesman Officer Doug Greene said.

The shooting was reported around 11:30 p.m. at Country Gold in the 7400 block of Old Pearsall Road.

Surveillance video from the bar helped police catch up with Salazar, who was seen arguing with the victims inside the bar, Greene said. The argument escalated outside in a patio, where Salazar pulled the trigger, Greene said.

"It's a pretty, pretty cold act," Greene said of the shooting. "It is senseless. There should be other ways of handling any kind of dispute."

Salazar was charged with murder and aggravated assault. The second charge could be upgraded if the wounded victim dies, Greene said.
