SAN ANTONIO – The driver of a pickup truck crashed into a bridge early Saturday morning critically injuring one of three passengers.

A witness told San Antonio police that the driver was speeding down the access road of Interstate 10 around 3:45 a.m. when he tried to make a turn around and crashed into a concrete pillar at Dominion Drive.

All four occupants got out of the truck and ran from the scene, police said .

The witness said one of the men was injured and went back to the scene asking for help but requested police not be involved. He was taken to University Hospital in serious condition and is in police custody.

The witness also told police that two of the men, including one who is believed to be the driver, went back to the crash site, grabbed some belongings from the truck and ran away again.

Those two men are still at large. Police said the driver, when caught, will face charges for failure to stop and render aid.

According to police, one man was later detained.
