Investigators said Torres set off a small explosion on Aug. 22 at the Villa Motel in the 3400 block of Fredericksburg Road.

Investigators said surveillance cameras caught Torres running out of the room where the explosion happened. They also said he was caught on camera buying a gasoline container at a grocery store. That container was found at the motel.

An arrest affidavit said during questioning, Torres confirmed to investigators that he was the man in the surveillance video.

Torres has been charged with capital murder for a fatal shooting that happened on Aug. 29.
