Son finds parents dead inside South Side home

Police handling case as homicide

SAN ANTONIO – A couple has been found dead by their son inside their South Side home and according to San Antonio police, the case appears to be a homicide.

Officers responded to a 911 call before 10:30 p.m. Thursday from a home in the 200 block of Myrick Avenue. They found a man and woman, both in their late 40s, on the floor of a room inside the home, police said.

Assistant Chief Anthony Trevino also responded to the scene and said the couple's son made the discovery. The son told investigators that he had become concerned after being unable to reach his parents by phone.

He said when he arrived he found the door open and trail of blood leading to the area where the bodies were located.

Trevino did not mention whether a weapon was found in the home. However, he did say there were several shell casings near the body.

He said although their investigation is continuing, detectives are handling this case as a homicide.

As of 6 a.m. Friday, the medical examiner had not released the names of the deceased.
