2 homeowners shoot intruders in separate West Side incidents

Shootings occurred on Farrel Street, S. Brownleaf

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said two West Side homeowners shot suspected burglars trying to get inside their homes in separate incidents overnight.

The first shooting occurred just before midnight in the 150 block of Farrel Street, found just inside Loop 410. 

According to police, a burglar was attempting to break into that home using a crowbar when the homeowner heard the break-in and shot the suspect.

The suspected burglar shot was taken to University Hospital for their injuries, police said.

About an hour later around 1 a.m. Wednesday a second incident occurred in the 800 block of South Brownleaf.

In that incident the homeowner shot two of three suspected burglars attempting to get inside the home after they broke down the front door, police said.

Officers said the homeowner was also wounded after being fired upon by the burglars when they first entered inside.

All three people shot were taken to University Hospital. The conditions are not presently known.

Police said in that incident they have three suspects in custody.
