SAPD's latest cadet graduates include eight women

Police chief says 8 women graduating higher number than usual

SAN ANTONIO – Twenty-nine cadets, including eight women, graduated Friday from the San Antonio Police Training Academy.

The ceremony at Scottish Rite Theater concluded seven months of intensive training at the academy.

Police Chief William McManus said the eight women to receive their badges and diplomas is a higher female turnout than the department usually sees.

“I feel great about it,” McManus said. “We try to get as many women and minorities in each class as we can, and we’ve been doing a pretty good job of it.”
