Incident took place at Royal Pet Palace in 1300 block of Fair Ave

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said someone broke into a Southeast Side pet store and stole seven puppies from their cages overnight.

The incident took place at the Royal Pet Palace in the 1300 block of Fair Avenue.

According to police, someone smashed the glass on the front door. Once inside, the individuals smashed the glass on a room where the puppies were kept and then stole them from their cages. An eighth puppy was also taken out of its cage police said, but it appeared to have been dropped on the way out.

Police said the total value of the pets stolen is between $15,000 and $18,000. The dogs stolen include Pekingeses, a Micro Teacup Morkie, and a Maltese.

Pet store director Jessica Loven said one male and one female of the Pekingese each have one blue eye. It's a very unusual thing, Loven said.

Loven said that the public should watch out for people selling these type of dogs because that will probably be what the crooks will do with them.
