Second arrest made in shooting of 7-year-old girl in Kerrville

KERRVILLE, Texas – More than four months after the shooting of a 7-year-old girl in Kerrville, a second arrest has been made.

Leonel Francisco Lopez Jr. is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was captured in Houston on Thursday.

The shooting happened on Oct. 1 at the intersection of Paschal Avenue and Schreiner.

Mariah Gilkey, 7, was sitting in her father's car when a group of people fired several rounds at the car, hitting her in the head. She is at home recovering.

Lopez’s bond is set at $100,000.

The Kerrville Police Department is still asking for information on this case. Anyone with information is asked to call Kerr County Crime Stoppers at 830-896-8477.

There’s a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
