Bexar County Fire Marshal's Office searching for missing K-9

Accelerant detection dog "Villy" last seen Friday

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Fire Marshal's Office is looking for a missing arson investigation K-9 named "Villy."

The agency asked the public for help finding the dog with a Facebook post Saturday.

Villy is an accelerant detection dog who sniffs out fire scenes, county spokeswoman Monica Ramos said. In 2015, KSAT did a story on him when he first joined the department.

The dog was on medical leave at his partner's home in Atascosa County due to issues with his rear legs. He vanished Friday morning.

It was originally believed the Belgian Malinois/German shepherd mix was his arson investigators partner's property near FM 476 and FM  2146. However, when his partner and his family went looking for him, they found tire tracks near some paw prints and it's now believed Villy was taken.

It's possible a good Samaritan may have seen the K-9, and thought he was hurt and lost.

Villy has a medical condition that requires medication. He is outfitted with an identification chip.
