Bexar deputy facing burglary charges

Billy Torres accused of stealing items Christmas Day at Walmart

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office who faces charges of burglary of a building is being placed on paid administrative leave, according to BCSO.

Billy Torres, 40, was off-duty and working security Christmas Day outside the Walmart at 9427 Culebra.

Store managers said surveillance video footage showed Torres entering the store while it was closed and taking food items, an electronic device and sunglasses.

The Sheriff's Office said Torres is employed as a detention officer at the Bexar County Jail.

Torres was arrested Friday afternoon without incident, deputies said.
