Carjacking suspects arrested following south Bexar County chase

Pickup truck owner carjacked at gunpoint

BEXAR COUNTY – Three people were arrested following a chase that covered several miles of south Bexar County Monday afternoon.

The trio crashed the stolen truck they occupied on Applewhite Road at the Bexar/Atascosa County line.Ā

One man fled on foot following the crash but was captured with the help of theĀ Bexar County sheriff’s K-9 unit.Ā  He refused to surrender and had to be subdued with a stun gun.

The other two, a man and a woman, suffered minor cuts and bruises in the crash and surrendered without incident.

A clerk in a convenience store in Von Ormy, where the carjacking occurred, said that two people approached a man as he was putting gas in his truck. He told the clerk they first asked him for change and then produced a gun and hit him on the head.

The clerk said that the pair had been spotted acting suspiciously just minutes earlier.

ā€œThey were in the store before,ā€ the clerk said. ā€œI saw the videotape and they had been standing around waiting."

ā€œHis kids were in the truck and they let the kids get out,ā€ the clerk said.

Deputies said that the two men apparently picked up a woman at a nearby strip club as they fled.

All three remain in custody and are facing a variety of charges, ranging from aggravated robbery to evading arrest.
