Drug deal ends in carjacking, shooting on city's NE Side

Police credit Taco Cabana employee for helping save victim

SAN ANTONIO – Police are investigating a drug deal that ended in a shooting and carjacking on the city’s Northeast Side.  

San Antonio police were called to the Taco Cabana near the Loop 1604 eastbound frontage road and Nacogdoches Road just after 8:15 p.m.

Police said two men met in the parking lot to sell illegal narcotics. During the course of the investigation, police said the shooter pulled out a gun and hit the man in the neck.

The shooter is described as a man in his early to mid 20s.

The victim, 34, ran inside the restaurant where employees called for help. The shooter drove away in the man’s vehicle.

Police credited one employee for applying pressure to the victim’s wound and possibly saving his life.

The victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center and was talking to first responders.

Police are looking for a white Infiniti G37.

Police are continuing to interview several witnesses.
