Broadway Bank donated two pieces of art to the center by renowned space artist Robert McCall. One is the first draft of a painting depicting the first walk on the moon. The other is a painting showing White walking in space outside the Gemini 4 spacecraft.

The center's director, Rick Varner, said the artwork is important because it helps people connect with science.

"A lot of people are inspired by this work we see behind us," Varner said. "It helps to connect us to the technology and the math and the other sciences that we want them to pursue."

Saturday was also the 49th anniversary of the original dedication of the "First walk in space" painting.
