SAN ANTONIO – With San Antonio’s citywide celebration of Fiesta wrapped up, the city is preparing to celebrate its biggest party yet for its 300th birthday.
One of the many partners of the city's Tricentennial, the Children's Ballet of San Antonio, is not only getting ready for the celebration, it’s also earning some recognition that is putting San Antonio on the map for the arts.
Cast members have already received numerous awards and recognition on the regional and national level.
"We are very proud and honored to elevate the name of San Antonio so high, with five recognitions in this past season," said Vanessa Bessler, Children's Ballet founder and artistic director, who has also been recognized as outstanding teacher for the second year in the row.
Bessler said she is proud of her students, who have been awarded 11 scholarships from renowned schools nationally and internationally.
"Our kids are going to bring a little bit of San Antonio to all those places," Bessler said.
The Children's Ballet of San Antonio will be showcasing its production of Swan Lake from May 6-7 at the Scottish Rite Theatre.
