Commissioner Wolff on DWI arrest: ‘One thing led to another, and now I'm here'

Bexar County Precinct 3 commissioner charged with DWI

SAN ANTONIO – Moments after walking out of the Bexar County magistrates office, Bexar County Commissioner Kevin Wolff tried to explain what led up to him being arrested for driving while intoxicated.

“It was late, wanted to make a run by Whataburger right down the street,” Wolff said. “(I) did so and one thing led to another and now I am here.”

San Antonio police arrested the 51-year-old commissioner just after 3 a.m. Sunday.

Wolff said he was familiar with the process that police do while arresting people, however, “Actually, (to) be part of the process is a different perspective,” he said.

Police were called to the Whataburger after reports that Wolff has rear-ended two vehicles in the drive-through.

A KSAT source said police believed Wolff was intoxicated, given a field sobriety test and offered a Breathalyzer test but refused.

Wolff said he officers never asked him to take one.

“I might have a little disagreement with that. Whether it was alcohol or it was different medications I take for blood pressure, etc I don’t know,” he said. “It may have been a late night. We’ll see.”

Police obtained a warrant to draw a sample of his blood.

Wolff was released after posting $1,000 bail.
