SAN ANTONIO – Federal investigators said a couple hired by the city for cleanup of the Alamodome collected more than half-a-million dollars in overcharges from the city.

Geoffrey Comstock and Anna Becerra were charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud. A federal indictment said the couple inflated the number of hours clocked for janitorial work at the Alamodome and collected more than $504,000 in overpayments for nearly two years until January 2016.

The city ended its contract with the couple in March.

San Antonio spokesman Jeff Coyle said, “The city worked closely with Homeland Security to assist with the indictment of these individuals and to maximize the potential recovery of assets to the city.”
