Authorities searching for man who escaped police custody, stole firearm

Suspect accused of aggravated robbery after taking security guard's vehicle

SAN ANTONIO – Police are trying to wrangle in a man who was able to escape while handcuffed and also managed to steal an officer’s weapon.

Shavano Park police, along with other law enforcement agencies, are looking for Raul Miguel Martinez, also known as Mike Martinez.

A warrant was issued Saturday morning for felony escape and theft of a firearm. Police said it all began when he and a woman tried taking off with a go-kart.

The Shavano Park police chief said early Saturday that Martinez and his girlfriend, Jasmine Delgado, were caught loading a stolen go-kart into a truck that was also stolen.

Investigators said the truck was taken out of San Antonio sometime prior and had fake license plates on it.

While officers were processing the arrest of the pair, Martinez allegedly stole an officer’s extra weapon and took off westbound.

Police said Martinez was then seen at the Baptist ER off 1604 and Northwest Military Highway about 1 p.m. Saturday.

Martinez is accused of aggravated robbery after taking a security guard’s GMC Sierra.

Since he was last seen heading into San Antonio, San Antonio police and Bexar County sheriff’s deputies are currently looking for him and the stolen GMC Sierra with Texas license plate HNL3981.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
