3 men stole $190K in HEB produce, SAPD says

Trio resold produce at lower prices

SAN ANTONIO – Three men were arrested Thursday morning for stealing $190,000 in produce from HEB, San Antonio police said.

An HEB employee and two third-party contractors are accused of stealing pallets of produce, loading them onto trailers and reselling the produce at lower prices. This has been going on for more than a year, San Antonio police Sgt. Val Garcia said.

The men will be charged with organized crime, Garcia said.

"We're still working closely with HEB, and we're going to continue the investigation and follow up and see if anyone else comes up as a suspect. If they do, we'll take action," Garcia said.

HEB security contacted the San Antonio Police Department several weeks ago to help in the investigation.

Garcia said the men ranged in age from 20s to 60s.
