SAPD still looking for person who left woman dead in pickup in 1998

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police continue to search for the person responsible for the death of a woman who was left in a pickup truck nearly 20 years ago.

On Oct. 4 1998, Mary Ellen Martinez set out to meet some friends around 1 a.m. 

Ten hours later, her body was found in the bed of a truck she borrowed. Martinez was partially nude.

"The victim was found stabbed to death in the bed of the truck parked in the driveway of 2000 Chavaneaux," police said. 

Martinez was 30 years old.

Police said Martinez had borrowed the truck from a friend. It was a 1971 brown and green Ford.
