Some residents critical of the bus service said they damaged city streets and have been underutilized. City leaders said some voters thought by doing away with the service the tax dollars could be spent on infrastructure improvements in the city.

Mayor Tim Howell said if voters had voted do away with the service it would have taken a difficult and lengthy process to direct money to other purposes.
