Original Story:

A San Antonio family is dealing with the pain and loss of three beloved relatives killed in a fiery crash.

Family members say three of the four victims of Friday night's collision on Applewhite Road are Steve Garcia, 34, Melinda Rodriguez, 27, and Aliza Maldonado, 8. Maldonado was one of Rodriguez's children.

The fourth victim was a friend of Rodriguez's, according to family. However, police and the medical examiner have not officially released the victims' identities.

"They were both missing all day yesterday. Nobody could get a hold of them. We knew something was wrong," Stacey Garcia said. Her brother and cousin died in the wreck.

Police say the driver of an SUV, who family members say was Rodriguez, was headed northbound on Applewhite Road when the SUV hit another car, spun out, hit a median and ended up in the southbound lanes prior to crashing head on with an oncoming 18-wheeler.

An explosion and fire claimed the lives of everyone inside the SUV.

Rodriguez and Garcia's family say it's difficult knowing the news without official confirmation. Both Rodriguez and Garcia left behind surviving children.

"They were good people and we're going to miss them," Stacey Garcia said.

Rodriguez's family set up a GoFundMe. Garcia's sister has set up a crowdfunding page to help with funeral costs.
