Man charged with murder in shooting of roommate

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested a man accused of shooting his roommate on the city's East Side.

Jerry Milton Smith, 64, has been charged with murder.

According to police, Smith originally refused to leave the home located in the 4300 block of Seabrook Drive before he willingly agreed to be taken into custody.

Police said they had been to the home earlier in the day for an ongoing disturbance between other people who lived there.

The name of the victim has yet to be released.

Smith's bond is set at $150,000.

Police are investigating a shooting between roommates that left one man dead.

San Antonio police said multiple people rent rooms at the home located in the 4300 block of Seabrook Drive on the city’s East Side.

Police said they had been to the home earlier in the day for an ongoing disturbance between other people who lived there.

The victim in the shooting has been identified as a 40-year-old man; police said he was dead when they arrived.

Barricaded inside the home was the 64-year-old man police said was the trigger man.

He came out on his own and was taken into custody; he’ll be meeting with homicide detectives.

Charges are still pending. Police also said they are still looking for the victim’s girlfriend.
