Fire broke out around 3 a.m.; house located on N. Pine

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters responded to a vacant house fire overnight, fire officials said Wednesday.

The fire broke out around 3 a.m. inside a home on the Interstate 35 north access road near N. Pine, located on the near East Side.

Firefighters said a neighbor noticed it and called 911. The fire burned through the roof and caused heavy damage to the second floor. The fire took about 30 minutes to put it out.

The fire threatened the home next door but firefighters kept it from spreading.

A damage estimate is not presently known. Arson is investigating.
