Vacant house fire in Live Oak threatens nearby apartments

Thick brush made access tough for firefighters

LIVE OAK, Texas – A fire early Thursday morning in a vacant house in Live Oak for a time threatened the homes of other people who live in a nearby apartment building.

Live Oak firefighters responded to the call around 4 a.m. They quickly called for assistance from other nearby cities.

Although they said thick brush hampered their access to the burning structure, they ultimately were able to keep the fire from spreading to a nearby apartment building. No one was injured in the fire.

The city of Schertz had its emergency evacuation bus on hand to allow firefighters a place to cool off after fighting the fire during hot, humid weather conditions.

According to firefighters, no one was living in the home. The cause of the fire was not known immediately.
