SAN ANTONIO – A former justice of the peace and current Edwards Aquifer Board member was arrested during a traffic stop and charged with felony family assault.

Byron Miller, 58, was arrested on a felony arrest warrant around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 8000 block of Crestway, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said.

Miller was indicted in June 2015 on assault charges stemming from an incident in February 2015.

He recently ran for state representative of District 120, where he did not get enough votes to qualify for the runoff election.

Miller is currently the District 2 board member on the Edwards Aquifer Authority.

The EAA was contacted for comment on this story but said it did not feel comfortable commenting on a private matter.
